Treasure Hunting

SofaToSailor has been treasure hunting this week. I visited a member of the Leisure Owners Association on Tuesday who lives on Canvey Island, Essex, UK. Rod is a retired Leisure 17 owner who sadly has had to give up sailing due to a back injury. We talked for three hours about the adventure and Rod asked many questions about the project, and the whats, wheres and whens. Rod has sold to the SofaToSail boat project a very reasonable second hand Mainsail which will be used as a spare. Whilst we were talking I mentioned that I was looking for a Lewmar Ocean 60 Hatch, which will be fitted into the place of the companion way instead of the traditional 6mm thin plywood wash boards. Guess what Rod had in his shed, brand new in its original box?!

Many thanks to Rod for his time, and for items he reduced his price on specially for the SofaToSailor project.

Eventually I will get the sail to a sailmaker (hopefully Dolphin Sails in Harwich, the original manufacturer of the sail) for a service and some extra reefing points.
