Our used self-steering wind vane has arrived safely with us. Part of our project ethos is to "Repair, Reuse, Rather than Replace.". We are committed to our The Green Blue promise.
Soon, this piece of equipment will be sent to Hydrovane Self Steering, who will help us with its refurbishment before it is fitted to Poppet, our 'Dinghy with a lid', in preparation for our December 2024 Atlantic Crossing in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, Mind, MS-UK, and St Helena Hospice.
Our Hydrovane will be an extra set of hands to steer Poppet, our tiny 'dinghy with a lid', from The Canary Islands towards the Caribbean; it does not require electricity to work.
We might have a naming competition... our current favourite is "Britney Steers". 🤣
We will cross the Atlantic from The Canary Islands to the Caribbean during winter 2024/25.
