It's been a slow few months for the SofaToSailboat project. COVID-19 has very much gotten in the way of our summer plans and fundraising. Courtney has been busy working his socks off for the NHS, and John-Kenneth has been setting up a new office at Titchmarsh Marina where our project boat is being stored.
Restoration has restarted on 'Poppet', our tiny Leisure 17 sailing boat. She is off her trailer at the marina, the keels have been blasted and undercoated.
Whilst the trailer it is empty it has been treated to some new bits of steel, and is currently undergoing a cold zinc paint scheme. Our friends with a farm and engineering facilities have been a great help.
We are still promoting our fundraising to friends and family, but unfortunately with so many events/shows being cancelled, it has been hard work. Please keep a lookout for some further interviews in the national boating magazines and press.
It is still our aim to set off in December 2021 on our fundraising adventure across the Atlantic.
