Febuary 2022 Update

It has been a little while since my last update. It has been a busy new year in family life and work. Poppet has been stored snuggly away in a local barn staying dry for winter, but very soon in the next month to six weeks; she will be reemerging watertight and ready for her paint job, followed by deck hardware, rigging, and electronics.

Last week on Friday 18th February, we (the two crew*) met up for a day at the NEC, Birmingham, at the new Boatlife exhibition. It allowed us to catch up and plan the next few months of boat work and training. Sadly family life and work commitment only allowed us one day of getting together.

We found a Hot Tub bigger than Poppet, our tiny Leisure 17ft Atlantic sailboat

We met some of our existing corporate sponsors and hopefully met some exciting new ones, which we’ll be following up over the next few months.

This Mercury V12 Outboard motor weighs nearly as much as Poppet! WE'll be using an electric outboard as our secondary back-up propulsion to our sails.

Stay tuned for an update when our skipper gets back on board and carries on with refit work in the next few weeks. He’ll be filling in the windows, fitting the new companionway hatch, and creating the watertight lockers and bulkheads. Fair Winds!
